Welcome to J. Kennedy Guitars & Repair

Have you ever listened to your favorite guitar or bass player and said: “how do they make it seem so easy and sound so good?” Beyond the years of musical training and practice most professional musicians have a secret weapon: a well maintained instrument. Worn or uneven frets can kill sustain, cause fret buzz, and make some notes completely disappear from a guitar. A poorly adjusted truss rod can cause undue strain on playing muscles, or notes to fret out, and keep you from playing in tune. A bad electronics component will end a jam session or gig, and a broken headstock will keep the guitar from functioning at all! But with a well maintained instrument you won’t have to “fight” to play it, it will play more in tune, sound better, have zero worries about electronic failure, and make it easier for you to get the music you’re working on out of your head and into your hands! Touring musicians take an army of support staff with them to maintain instruments on a daily basis, and there’s no reason why every player shouldn’t have access to this same important aspect of playing. J. Kennedy guitars offers a full range of guitar repair services, from re-stringing, to re-fretting, and everything in between. Even if your guitar has lost its headstock, or is in need of that electronics upgrade to finally get “your sound” nailed. J. Kennedy Guitars wants to help you get your instrument tailored so you achieve your fullest musical potential!

Guitar Repairman/Luthier Justin Kennedy has been fixing, tweeking, modifying, and improving guitars since his parents bought him his first bass guitar over 18 years ago. Justin’s repair and technical skills were taught by years of guidance both formal and informal by world renowned guitar tech Tom Weber (google him and see who he works for, or just dig through the April '08 edition of Guitar World. Hint: he works for the guy on the cover) with whom he still studies and works with. Justin has also studied with master luthier Matt Friedman of Acacia Instruments in Southampton , PA. After years of working on instruments for friends and band mates, word began to spread about Justin’s attention to detail, ability to cater each instrument to its player, affordable pricing, and customer service. Offering a small selection of high quality used instruments, and warranty repair service for Fender (Silver level tech), BC Rich, Michael Kelly, Traben, and Floyd Rose Guitars (with more brands added all the time), J. Kennedy Guitars & Repair is excited to help you keep your instrument maintained at its peak shape to help you get the most out of your guitar so you can hone your musical potential!
